Gate Breaker Ministries was developed in the late 1990's by Dr. Stan Fleming as an apologetics ministry to help protect Christians against the snares of cults, the occult and world religions, with an emphasis for equipping Christians to reach out with prayer, love, and witness. Pastor Fleming's own search for the truth took him through cultic, religious, and occult experiences before he discovered that the Lord Jesus Christ is the truth. Over the years, the teaching ministry has expanded to include early church history and various pastoral teachings. The term "Gate Breakers" comes from a proclamation that Jesus said nearly two thousand years ago: "I will build my church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it" (Matthew 16:18). The word Hades is Greek and means "the place of the dead." While we recognize that there is a literal place of the dead, there is also a place in which those living are trapped in unbelief, confusion, and darkness. The Good News is that Jesus came to set the captives free! Christians can become "gate breakers" for Jesus through acts of prayer, love, and witness to those who are trapped behind the gates of the cults, occult, and non-Christian religions.
